What makes Coast to Coast’s top exec so unique? Ann Stortz approaches medical billing from the perspective of someone who can easily see both sides of the equation: an insurance company’s claim-based perspective as well as a billing company’s customer-centric focus. Everyone benefits from this wellspring of industry-specific knowledge.

After many years working for insurance companies on claims and coverage issues, Ann switched to billing, where she handled many different specialties, eventually discovering a real affinity for the behavioral health field. A lifelong proponent of relationship-driven dealings, she felt a kinship with the industry she now serves. It’s one in which fair and ethical dealings matter; and one where a customized approach can make all the difference.

In 2011, she founded Coast to Coast Medical Solutions, a billing company focused on delivering boutique-style service and attention to its mental health, substance abuse, and eating-disorder-based treatment clients. The company works with clinicians, insurance carriers, managed care networking departments, and case management departments across the country – from coast to coast.

Prior to building Coast to Coast from the ground up, Ann managed billing department processes such as the verification of benefits, billing, and collections, as well as pricing and managed care contracting.

And let’s not forget her start at Mutual of Omaha, where she began her career in the claims department, gaining valuable insight into the insurance side of this business. She participated in claims processing, auditing, underwriting, as well as utilization reviews. In 2006, she was responsible for remotely launching, and subsequently managing the billing operations for an eating disorder facility located across the country from her home in Florida. She has worked in the behavioral health field ever since.

Ann oversees all Coast to Coast operations on a daily basis, and is blessed to have an enormously talented staff throughout the company who handle the day-to-day details.

She is active in the recovery community in the West Palm Beach area. Ann serves on the board of directors of Lambda North, a 12-step clubhouse that provides a safe space for recovering alcoholics and addicts within the LGBTQ community.

Doreen Casanave joined Coast to Coast Medical Solutions in 2012.

As its Chief Operating Officer, Doreen is always on the lookout for a way to improve business processes and ensure client satisfaction.

She works closely with each of the behavioral health treatment facilities Coast to Coast serves, and liaisons with company founder Ann Stortz and Managing Director Jeanne McTernan to personally confirm that the superior services Coast to Coast is known for are delivered in every single case.

Prior to joining Coast to Coast, Doreen was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for more than 30 years. She has worked in the areas of psychiatric care, geriatrics, neurology, adolescent behavioral health, community health, and school-based nursing.

Hired initially as a Utilization Review Specialist at Coast to Coast, Doreen was soon promoted to Director of Utilization Review. Using her in-depth medical knowledge and experience, she installed a top-quality clinical team, who continue to be devoted to executing the standards developed by Doreen.

Ginger has been an integral member of the Coast to Coast Medical Solutions team for as long as anyone can remember. While her designated human is (technically) CEO Ann Stortz, the entire office family has officially called dibs on this cuddly cutie-pie.

As Chief Treat Officer, she maintains careful watch of possible edible treats in the vicinity. Not much will derail her from her mission, once she’s sniffed out a trail of goodies. And lest you think she’s all work and no play, Ginger is the ultimate team player. As if she were born to do it, she selflessly provides unconditional love – and doggy kisses! – to her work family at every opportunity throughout the day. This fortifies our staff and allows them to focus on what they do best: serving Coast to Coast’s many clients across the nation.

In her spare time, Ginger enjoys playing fetch and curling up somewhere comfy for a quick doggy nap. Who’s a good girl, you ask? That would be CTO Ginger.
